Description

Ludwigia hyssopifolia (G.Don) Exell is a member of the Onagraceae family, commonly referred to as Linear Leaf Water Primrose. It is native to the New World Tropics and has become a widespread weed in tropical regions worldwide. The plant is particularly problematic in rice paddies due to its high seed production, with one plant capable of generating 250,000 seeds. It is documented in the Pan-Himalaya region and has a broad distribution across South and Central America, the Caribbean, and parts of the Pacific. Specific records include locations in Colombia, Paraguay, and several Pacific islands. Ludwigia hyssopifolia was first described in 1957.
