Tilia cordata, known as linden or small-leaved lime, is a tree species in the Malvaceae family. It is native to Europe and parts of western Asia, with a distribution spanning from Britain to the Caucasus. The species is also found in high elevations in the southern part of its range. Common names include little-leaf linden and, in South East England, pry tree.

Description

Tilia cordata, described by Mill. in 1768, is a member of the genus Tilia. It is found in regions such as New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and several European countries including Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden. The species occurs in both lowland and highland areas, with southern populations typically at higher elevations. It is widely recognized for its small leaves and is commonly referred to as linden in English. This species is part of the Malvaceae family, which includes a variety of flowering plants.
