Description
Mimetes saxatilis is a shrub in the Proteaceae family, characterized by its upright, rarely branching growth. Its leaves are 3½–5 cm long and 1½–3 cm wide, with a blunt, thickened, reddish tip or three crowded teeth. The inflorescences are cylindrical and topped by a green leaf crest, with 12–22 bright yellow flowers in the axil of flat green leaves. This species is restricted to limestone outcrops in the Agulhas plains of the Western Cape, South Africa. It is considered endangered due to its limited range and habitat specificity. Flowering occurs between July and December, though the timing is variable and depends on moisture levels.
