Description
Clethra arborea was first described in 1789 by Aiton. It is found in regions including Açores, Madeira, São Miguel Island, Madeira Island, Ireland, Portugal, the Azores, India, and Great Britain. While it is native to Madeira, it is extinct in the Canary Islands and has been introduced to the Azores. The species is part of the Clethra genus and is distinguished by its presence in the laurisilva forests of Madeira.
