Lilium oxypetalum is a member of the Liliaceae family, native to the N. W. Himalayas. It grows to a height of 20–30 cm and prefers a cool, shady position in moist, acid soil. The plant produces yellow, semi-pendant, unscented flowers in early summer, shaped like a shallow bowl and up to 5 cm across with purple spots near the center.

Description

Lilium oxypetalum grows as a single stem from a bulb, with a green stem tinged with purple. It supports linear to lanceolate leaves, sometimes arranged in a whorl beneath the flowers, with leaves up to 7 cm long. The flowers are produced in ones or twos on slender stems and have a distinctive pattern of purple spots near the center. This species is found in Nepal and the West Himalaya, where it thrives in its native habitat.
