It is distributed across multiple countries including the Andaman Islands, Assam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China South-Central, East Himalaya, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, and West Himalaya. The species was formally described in 1980.
