Lastreopsis silvestris, known as the mountain shield fern, is a species native to eastern Australia. It is found in high altitude rainforests in the McPherson Range, on the border of New South Wales and Queensland. The area experiences high rainfall and frequent mists and fogs. The species was first collected in 1918 by Cyril Tenison White, who noted its abundance at the time.

Description

Lastreopsis silvestris belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae and is part of the genus Lastreopsis. It was formally described in 1957 by D.A. Smith ex Tindale.
