Lastreopsis marginans (F.Muell.) D.A.Sm. & Tindale ex Tindale

Lastreopsis marginans, known as the glossy or bordered shield fern, is a fern species native to eastern Australia. It is found in rainforest and wet sclerophyll forest habitats. The fronds are glossy dark green, between 50 and 90 cm long, and grow in a crowded, erect manner. The lectotype was collected near the Clarence River by Hermann Beckler.
Description
Lastreopsis marginans is a fern in the family Dryopteridaceae. It is distributed in New South Wales and Queensland. The species was described in 1957 by D.A. Smith and Tindale, based on the original work of F.M. Mueller. This fern is adapted to moist, shaded environments and is characterized by its glossy, dark green fronds that are typically 50 to 90 cm in length. The plant is part of the genus Lastreopsis, which includes other shield fern species with similar ecological preferences.
