Boerhavia wrightii is a flowering plant in the Nyctaginaceae family, native to the deserts of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is an annual herb with a slender, spidery stem up to 70 cm long, lance-shaped leaves with rippled edges, and small pale pink flowers with reddish or pinkish bracts. It is commonly known as largebract spiderling.
Description
Boerhavia wrightii (A.Gray) is a member of the Nyctaginaceae family, found in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and parts of Mexico. It is an annual herb with a slender, spidery stem, lance-shaped to oblong leaves with rippled edges, and inflorescences at the ends of branches bearing small pale pink flowers. The species was first described in 1853. The lectotype was designated as K 000779302, a well-preserved specimen showing mature anthocarps and flowers. The species is commonly known as largebract spiderling and is adapted to desert shrub environments.
