Juniperus macrocarpa, known as Large-fruited Juniper, is a species in the Cupressaceae family, native to the northern Mediterranean region from southwestern Spain to western Turkey and Cyprus. It thrives on coastal sand dunes at elevations up to 75 metres. A single isolated tree is found in southern Portugal.

Description

Juniperus macrocarpa is a juniper species found in the northern Mediterranean, ranging from southwestern Spain east to western Turkey and Cyprus. It is adapted to coastal sand dunes at low altitudes, typically below 75 metres. An isolated individual has been recorded in a cliff in southern Portugal, outside its main range. The species was first described in 1816 by Sowerby.
