It is native to regions including Açores, Portugal Continental, Faial Island, Pico Island, São Miguel Island, Terceira Island, Ireland, Belgium, Flemish Region, France, The Netherlands, Great Britain, and others. The species was first described in 1841.

Description

Muehlenbeckia complexa is a climbing plant belonging to the Polygonaceae family. It is known by the common name lacy wirevine and is distributed across several regions in Europe, including the Azores, Channel Islands, and parts of the British Isles. The species is also referred to as pohuehue, a name that may apply to other related climbers in the genus Muehlenbeckia. It was first published in 1841 under the authorship (A.Cunn.) Meisn.
