Kokoona zeylanica is a plant species in the family Celastraceae, native to Sri Lanka. It is known in Sinhala as කොකුන් (Kokun). The genus was previously classified in the family Hippocrateaceae.

Description

Kokoona zeylanica, described by Thwaites in 1853, is a member of the Celastraceae family. It is found exclusively in Sri Lanka. The Sinhala name for this species is කොකුන් (Kokun), and it should not be confused with the term කොකුම්, which refers to the Kokum plant. The genus Kokoona was once placed in the Hippocrateaceae family before being reclassified.
