Koelpinia linearis is an annual herb in the Asteraceae family, native to regions across southern Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Central and South Asia. It typically grows to a height of 10–30 cm and is sparsely pubescent. The plant features linear or oblong leaves and a flowering stem that is ribbed and may be branched from the base. The synflorescence contains 1–3 flower heads with pale yellow or purplish corollas. The achenes are cylindrical, curved, and have a pappus of simple bristles.

Description

Koelpinia linearis is an annual herb reaching (5)-10-30-(40) cm in height, with sparsely pubescent stems that are ribbed and may branch from the base. Its cauline leaves are linear or oblong, 1.5–15.0 cm long and 0.1–0.7 cm wide, with an amplexicaul base and greyish green coloration. The synflorescence includes 1–3 heads, with peduncles up to 4.0 cm long. The involucre is cylindrical, 6.0–8.0 mm long, with linear-ovate bracts. The corolla is ligulate, 6.0 mm long, and pale yellow or purplish when dried. Achenes are cylindrical, 8.0–16.0 mm long, with a pappus of simple bristles. The species was first described in 1776 by Pall.
