Keraunea capixaba is a scandent shrub or liana in the family Ehretiaceae, native to the Southeast region of Brazil. It was described in 2014 by Lombardi. The species is characterized by its cylindrical, hollow stems, and leaves with pinnate venation. The inflorescence is corymbose, with 2–4 flowers, and the corolla has elliptic to oblong lobes. The name derives from an indigenous term related to Espirito Santo.

Description

Keraunea capixaba is a climbing shrub or liana reaching up to 4 m in height. The stems are cylindrical, hollow, and glabrescent, with internodes 2.4–11.5 cm long. Leaves on the main stem are elliptic, 7.0–13.5 x 2.1–4.5 cm, with pinnate, camptodromous venation and cuneate bases. Side shoots bear 4–6 leaves, progressively increasing in size, with ovate blades 1–9.5 x 0.5–6.5 cm. The inflorescence is corymbose, with 2–4 flowers, and the pedicel is sericeous-pubescent. The bracteole is ovate, 3.3–3.5 x 1.9–2.4 cm. Flowers are five-merous, with a campanulate calyx and corolla. The species is named after an indigenous term from Espirito Santo state.
