Encephalartos tegulaneus, known as the Kenyan Giant Cycad, is a cycad species native to Kenya. It is found in the Eastern Province near Embu and on the Matthews Range in the Rift Valley Province, growing at altitudes between 1,200 and 2,300 meters. The species was discovered in May 1954 by Joy Adamson, author of 'Born Free'.

Description

Encephalartos tegulaneus belongs to the family Zamiaceae and is part of the genus Encephalartos. It is endemic to Kenya and was formally described in 1957. This cycad is distributed in specific regions of Kenya, including the Eastern Province and the Rift Valley Province. The species was first identified by Joy Adamson, known for her work with wildlife in Kenya.
