Description
Keetia gueinzii, named after German naturalist Wilhelm Gueinzius, is a scandent shrub in the Rubiaceae family. It was designated the type species of the genus Keetia after the original type, Keetia transvaalensis, was synonymized. The plant is distributed across southern and eastern Africa, including Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and South Africa. It grows in open forest, brushy scrub, and forest gallery habitats. The species is considered to be of Least Concern (LC) in terms of conservation status according to the IUCN (2017).
