Description

The species was published by Tulasne in 1857, based on a single gathering cited in the protologue. The holotype is a specimen from the Antoungoun mountain in the Emirnensis province, collected by Bojer. A second specimen annotated 'Madagascar. Hilsenberg and Bojer' is present in Herb. BM but lacks a collecting number or date, so it cannot be designated as an isotype. The species is currently accepted in taxonomic classifications.
