Lycium afrum L., commonly known as Kaffir boxthorn, is a shrub belonging to the Solanaceae family. It is native to the Western Cape Province in South Africa. The species was first described in 1753.

Description

Lycium afrum is a member of the genus Lycium in the Solanaceae family, also known as the potato family. It is indigenous to the Western Cape Province of South Africa. The plant is known by the common name Kaffir boxthorn and has been recorded in several regions including Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Australia, and the Cape Provinces, including Victoria.
