Iresine rhizomatosa is a species in the Amaranthaceae family, native to the Americas. It is a rhizomatous perennial with white flowers that bloom in the fall and is dioecious, with male and female flowers on separate plants. The species is found in the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains and along the coast in the United States, often in thin woods over sandy alluvial soil, along rivers or dunes. It is also distributed in several Central and South American countries.

It is dioecious, with male and female flowers occurring on separate individuals. Taxonomic clarification of its species limits, particularly in relation to I. diffusa, remains pending. The species was first described in 1915 and is currently accepted as the only Iresine species in regions like Virginia.
