Jensenia spinosa is a dioicous liverwort in the Pallaviciniaceae family. It is the only African representative of the genus Jensenia and is found at high elevations. Its distribution includes South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the islands of Mauritius, Réunion, and Saint Helena.
Description
Jensenia spinosa, described in 1986, is a species of liverwort in the Pallaviciniaceae family. It is native to various regions in Africa and is characterized by its dioicous reproductive system. Though widespread, it is considered scarce. The species has been recorded in South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and on the islands of Mauritius, Réunion, and Saint Helena.
