Larix kaempferi, known as Japanese larch, is a larch species native to Japan's central Honshū region. It is part of the Pinaceae family and was first described in 1856. The species is found in the Chūbu and Kantō mountain ranges.

Description

Larix kaempferi is a coniferous tree in the Pinaceae family, native to central Honshū in Japan, particularly in the Chūbu and Kantō regions. It is commonly referred to as Japanese larch in English and karamatsu in Japanese. The species was formally published in 1856. It has been introduced to several regions outside its native range, including Newfoundland, Ontario, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and others. This species is a member of the genus Larix, which includes other larch species.
