Paronychia jamesii, known as James' nailwort, is a species in the Caryophyllaceae family. It was first described in 1838 by Torr. & A.Gray. This plant is native to the central and southwestern United States and parts of northern Mexico.
Description
Paronychia jamesii is a member of the Caryophyllaceae, or carnation, family. It is found in the wild in the U.S. states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wyoming, as well as in the northeastern and northwestern regions of Mexico. The species was formally published in 1838 by the botanists Torr. & A.Gray. Commonly referred to as James' nailwort, it is a perennial herb that typically grows in open, dry habitats.
