Omphalea triandra L., a species in the Euphorbiaceae family, is known as Jamaican Cobnut. It is native to Jamaica and Haiti, and was first described in 1759. The name Omphalea was validated by Linnaeus, taking precedence over Omphalandria as the nomen conservandum.

Description

Omphalea triandra is a plant species within the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae. It is commonly referred to as Jamaican Cobnut and is found in the Caribbean, specifically in Jamaica and Haiti. The species was formally published in 1759 by Linnaeus. In taxonomic discussions, the genus name Omphalea was established as the nomen conservandum over the earlier name Omphalandria, as noted in Linnaean plant name classifications.
