Jacobaea borysthenica (DC.) B.Nord. & Greuter is a species in the Asteraceae family, native to Belarus, Krym, Romania, and Ukraine. The species was lectotypified in 2006 using the specimen G 00471753, collected from Lymany (formerly Kyslyakivka village). The specimen is annotated as 'Senecio borysthenicus Andrz.' in Besser’s handwriting. It is the most complete material with precise locality data.

Description

The lectotype designation of Jacobaea borysthenica is based on the specimen G 00471753, which is part of the G-DC collection. The specimen bears a blue label with 'Herb. W. Besser' and a year marked as '29' with a stroke, indicating the year of provenance as 1829. The actual collection was likely earlier, as Andrzejowski, the collector, visited the area in the 1810s and early 1820s. Other syntypes include G 00471752 and G 00471754, with varying annotations. The geographic origin of G 00471754 is less certain due to vague label data referring to Southern Podolia.
