Ixia odorata is a perennial flowering plant and geophyte of the Iridaceae family. It is part of the fynbos vegetation and is native to the Western Cape region of South Africa, where it is found from the Olifants River Mountains and Piketberg to the Cape Peninsula, Kleinrivier Mountains, and Elim.

Description

Ixia odorata, described by Ker Gawl. in 1822, is a member of the genus Ixia within the Iridaceae family. This species is endemic to the Western Cape, with a distribution that includes the Olifants River Mountains, Piketberg, Cape Peninsula, Kleinrivier Mountains, and Elim. As a geophyte, it is adapted to the fynbos ecosystem, which is characterized by nutrient-poor soils and a Mediterranean climate.
