Veronica hederifolia, the ivy-leaf speedwell, is a flowering plant in the family Plantaginaceae. Native to Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa, it has been introduced to other regions where it is often found as a common weed. The species is characterized by solitary blue flowers in leaf axils, with a corolla up to 1 cm wide. The fruit is a dehiscent capsule.

Description

Veronica hederifolia, known as ivy-leaf speedwell, is a member of the Plantaginaceae family. It is distributed across Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa, and has been introduced elsewhere. The plant features blue flowers that grow singly in the leaf axils, each with a corolla reaching up to one centimeter in width. Its fruit is a capsule that splits open when mature. The specific epithet was originally spelled 'hederaefolia' in the protologue. The species was first described in 1753 by Linnaeus.
