Rhodomyrtus pervagata, known as ironwood, is a shrub or small tree in the Myrtaceae family. It is native to northeastern Queensland, Australia, and grows up to 8 m tall with a trunk diameter of 14 cm. It has simple 3-veined leaves and small flowers up to 3.5 mm in diameter. This species is found in coastal and sub-coastal rainforest areas, particularly on soils derived from granite or basalt. The species name pervagata refers to its common occurrence along roadsides.

Description

Rhodomyrtus pervagata is a member of the Myrtaceae family and is endemic to northeastern Queensland, Australia. It typically grows in coastal and sub-coastal rainforest habitats, from the Windsor Tablelands to the Paluma Range National Park. The plant has simple leaves with three veins and produces small flowers. It thrives in soils derived from granite or basalt.
