Cypripedium irapeanum, known as Irapeao Cypripedium or Pelican Orchid, is a species in the Orchidaceae family. It is found in Mexico and Central America, including Guatemala and Honduras. This orchid grows in mixed pine and oak forests on well-drained limestone slopes and in areas with volcanic and clay soil rich in metals. It blooms from early June to late July and can occur in groups of hundreds in some regions.

Description

Cypripedium irapeanum is a member of the Orchidaceae family and is distributed across central and southern Mexico, as well as in Guatemala and Honduras. It is typically found in mixed pine and oak forests on well-drained limestone slopes and in areas with volcanic and clay soils that are rich in metals. The species blooms from early June to late July and can be found in dense groups in certain locations. Voucher specimens have been documented, including one collected by G. U. Skinner (K). The species was first described in 1825.
