Pueraria tuberosa is a climbing vine in the Fabaceae family, native to regions including Assam, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Pakistan. It features large tuberous roots, trifoliate leaves, and blue or purplish-blue flowers. The plant is also known as Indian kudzu or Vidarikand.

Description

Pueraria tuberosa is a climbing, coiling vine with a woody, tuberculated stem. Its large tuberous roots are globose or pot-like, up to 25 cm in diameter, with a white, starchy interior. The trifoliate leaves are alternate, with egg-shaped leaflets measuring up to 18 cm long and 16 cm wide, hairless on the upper surface. The bisexual flowers are approximately 1.5 cm in diameter and colored blue or purplish-blue. The fruit pods are linear, 2–5 cm long, with constricted segments between the seeds and covered in silky, bristly reddish-brown hair. Each pod contains 3 to 6 seeds.
