Helianthus simulans, commonly known as imitative sunflower, is a species of sunflower in the Asteraceae family. It is native to the southeastern and south-central United States, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas, and possibly parts of the Carolinas. The species was first described in 1929 by E.Watson.

Description

Helianthus simulans is a North American sunflower species found in several southeastern U.S. states. It is sometimes referred to as muck sunflower in botanical literature. Some populations in the eastern part of its range may be naturalized rather than native. The species is part of the genus Helianthus, which includes many other sunflower species.
