Hyptis brevipes is a species of flowering plant in the Lamiaceae family, known by several common names including lesser roundweed. It is an erect annual plant reaching up to 1 m in height, with square stems and coarsely hairy leaves. The plant is distributed across various regions including South America, Central America, and parts of Asia. It produces dense, almost globose inflorescences with white, five-lobed corollas and dark, ovoid seeds.

Description

Hyptis brevipes is an annual plant in the Lamiaceae family, characterized by its square stem and opposite, narrowly ovate or lanceolate leaves that are coarsely hairy on both surfaces. It can grow up to 1 m tall and typically has densely hairy stems, though some individuals may have less hair. The inflorescence is a dense raceme, nearly globose in shape, up to 14 mm in diameter, and borne on a 1 cm long peduncle in the axils of upper leaves. The corolla is white, five-lobed, and about 5 mm long, while the calyx is 4 mm long with five narrow, finely barbed lobes. The seeds are ovoid, up to 1 mm long, dark brown to black, with a visible scar and faint striations.
