Hypolepis viscosa is a fern species in the family Dennstaedtiaceae. It is native to several countries in Central and South America, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panamá, Venezuela, and Manizales. The species was first described in 1864 by Mett., with the original authorship attributed to H.Karst.

Description

Hypolepis viscosa is a member of the Dennstaedtiaceae family, a group of ferns commonly known as the bracken fern family. This species is distributed across several regions in the Neotropics, including Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panamá, Venezuela, and the city of Manizales. The scientific name was published in 1864 by Mett., with the original name proposed by H.Karst. The genus Hypolepis is characterized by its leathery fronds and is often found in tropical and subtropical environments. As with other members of the genus, Hypolepis viscosa is likely adapted to moist, shaded habitats typical of its native range.
