Hypochaeris sessiliflora

Hypochaeris sessiliflora is a terrestrial herb native to the Andean regions of South America, occurring in habitats ranging from high Andean forests to high-altitude páramo. The plant forms a rosette of elliptic-ovate or linear-ovate leaves, 2.0–13.0 cm long, with petiole-like bases and toothed margins. It produces a peduncle up to 10.0 cm long, bearing a head of approximately 25 flowers. The involucre is campanulate to hemispherical, with outer and inner bracts of varying shapes and lengths. The corolla is ligulate, 12.0–27.0 mm long, in colors ranging from yellow to white, and occasionally orange or pink. Achenes are 2.0–7.0 mm long, with a pappus 7.0–18.0 mm long. The species is found in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Venezuela, as well as in several protected natural areas.
