Hypochaeris cretensis is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, native to regions in the Mediterranean, including Greece, Italy, and surrounding areas. It typically grows to a height of 10–85 cm and has erect flowering stems that may be glabrous or sparsely tomentose. The plant features a rosette of elliptic or obovate leaves and cauline leaves that are ovate to triangular. The yellow corolla is 13–15 mm long, and the achenes are fusiform with a filiform beak. The species was first described in 1832.

Description

Hypochaeris cretensis is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family. It grows to (10)-15-30-(85) cm in height and has one to several erect flowering stems, which may be glabrous or sparsely tomentose, and sometimes hirsute or pilose at the base. Rosette leaves are elliptic or obovate, ranging from 4.0–25.0 cm in length, with entire or pinnatifid margins. Cauline leaves are ovate to triangular, 0.4–7.0 cm long, with entire or dentate edges. The yellow corolla is 13–15 mm long, and the achenes are fusiform, dark brown, ribbed, with a filiform beak. The species is native to the Mediterranean and was first described in 1832.
