Hyparrhenia tamba (Hochst. ex Steud.) Andersson ex Stapf is a member of the grass family (Poaceae), which is one of the most economically and ecologically important plant families. The species is distributed across various parts of Africa, including Bontebok National Park, Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho, Northern Provinces, Swaziland, and Zaïre, as well as in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Sudan. It also occurs in New Guinea. The species was published in 1919 and is part of the genus Hyparrhenia, which includes several grass species adapted to a range of environmental conditions.
