Lilium humboldtii, also known as the Humboldt lily, is a species of lily native to California and Baja California, Mexico. It was named after the naturalist and explorer Alexander von Humboldt and was first described in 1870 by Leichtlin. This lily is found in various regions of Southern California, including the South High Cascade Range, High Sierra Nevada, and the Santa Monica Mountains, typically at elevations between 600 and 1,200 meters.

Description

Lilium humboldtii is a member of the Liliaceae family and is native to the South High Cascade Range, High Sierra Nevada, south Outer South Coast Ranges, and the Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. It is also found in the Mexican state of Baja California. The species grows at elevations ranging from 600 to 1,200 meters. Named after Alexander von Humboldt, it was first published in 1870 by Leichtlin.
