Hornschuchia lianarum is a species in the Annonaceae family, endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. It is a shrub or small tree, 1–8 m tall, with narrowly elliptic to lanceolate leaves. It produces one-flowered inflorescences, with small, white or yellowish petals and a globose to ellipsoid monocarp. It flowers from January to November and fruits from March to August. The species is distinguished from related species by its cylindrical floral bud with an obtuse apex and a sessile monocarp with a persistent calyx.

Description

Hornschuchia lianarum is a member of the Annonaceae family, native to the Brazilian Northeast. It grows as a shrub or tree, 1–8 m tall, with chartaceous leaves 4.2–10 × 2–5 cm in size. The leaves have an asymmetric base and an acuminate to acute apex, with 7–14 pairs of secondary veins. The one-flowered inflorescence is either terminal or supra-axillary, with a pedicel 1–6 mm long. The calyx is cupuliform, 3–6 × 2–7 mm, and densely covered in trichomes. The petals are linear, 9–15 mm long, and the flower has six stamens and 2–4 carpels. The monocarp is globose to ellipsoid, 1 cm long, with two seeds. It is distinguished from H. mediterranea and H. mellosilvae by the shape of its floral bud and monocarp.
