Hornschuchia citriodora is a species in the Annonaceae family, native to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. It is a shrub or tree, 1–11 m tall, with narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate leaves and one-flowered inflorescences. The species is distinguished by its sepals that are connate at the base with a triangular apex, a unique feature within the genus. It flowers from December to May and fruits from February to March.

Description

Hornschuchia citriodora is characterized by leaves that are 9.8–16.5 × 3.2–8 cm in size, chartaceous, glabrous on both surfaces, with an acute to decurrent base and an acuminate to obtuse apex. The inflorescence is one-flowered, axillary to terminal, with a pedicel 3–14 mm long. Flowers have white, linear petals 10–21 mm long and 5–6 stamens. The carpels number 3–5, and the monocarps are 1–2, globose, 16–43 × 11–28 mm, green when fresh. The species was described by D.M. Johnson in 1993 and later updated in 1995 with new data on leaf morphology and inflorescence position.
