Abies spectabilis, known as Himalayan Fir, is a conifer species in the family Pinaceae. It is found in Afghanistan, China (Tibet), northern India, Nepal, and Pakistan. The species can grow up to 50 m (160 ft) in height and is sometimes considered to include the Bhutan fir as a variety.
Description
Abies spectabilis (D.Don) Mirb. is a member of the genus Abies and is native to the East Himalayan region. It is distributed across Afghanistan, China (Tibet), northern India, Nepal, and Pakistan. This species is a large tree, reaching heights of up to 50 m (160 ft). The species was first described in 1825 and is sometimes classified to include the Bhutan fir as a variety.
