Alnus nepalensis is a large alder tree native to the subtropical highlands of the Himalayas. It is commonly known as Himalayan alder and is found in regions such as Assam, Bangladesh, China, Nepal, and Vietnam. The species was first described in 1825 by D.Don. It is used for land reclamation, as firewood, and in the production of charcoal.

Description

Alnus nepalensis belongs to the genus Alnus in the family Betulaceae. It is a tree species that thrives in the subtropical highlands of the Himalayas. Its distribution includes areas such as the East Himalaya, West Himalaya, and parts of Southeast Asia. The tree is known locally in Nepal as Utis and is utilized for various purposes including land reclamation and fuel production.
