Leycesteria formosa, known as Himalaya-honeysuckle, is a deciduous shrub in the family Caprifoliaceae. Native to the Himalayas and southwestern China, it has been introduced to various regions, including Açores, São Miguel Island, Terceira Island, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. It was first described in 1824. The plant is also referred to as pheasant berry and is recognized as an invasive species in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Micronesia.

Description

Leycesteria formosa is a member of the Caprifoliaceae family and is native to the Himalayas and southwestern China. It has been introduced to several regions across Europe and the Atlantic islands. The shrub is known for its ornamental value but has become a noxious invasive species in parts of Australia, New Zealand, and Micronesia. It was first published in 1824 and is commonly known as Himalaya-honeysuckle or pheasant berry.
