Hepatica nobilis is a species of flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae, commonly known as Hepatica. It is a herbaceous perennial that grows from a rhizome and is native to woodland areas in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It is found in countries such as Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and parts of the United States, as well as in various regions of Europe and beyond.

Description

Hepatica nobilis, also known as common hepatica, liverwort, liverleaf, kidneywort, or pennywort, is a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). This plant is a herbaceous perennial that grows from a rhizome. It is native to woodland habitats across temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The species has a wide distribution, including countries such as Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and the United States. It is also found in regions like Albania, Austria, the Baltic States, Belarus, and Bulgaria. The species was first described in 1771.
