Helenium mexicanum, known as cabezona, is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. It is native to Mexico and Central America, specifically from Sonora and San Luis Potosí to Costa Rica.

Description

Helenium mexicanum, described by Kunth in 1818, is a member of the Asteraceae family. It is found in regions including Mexico Central, Mexico Gulf, Mexico Northeast, Mexico Northwest, Mexico Southeast, Mexico Southwest, and extends into Costa Rica. The plant is also reported in parts of Europe and the Netherlands. It is commonly referred to as cabezona and is a native species of Mesoamerica.
