Torilis nodosa is an annual herb that grows in a wide range of habitats, particularly disturbed areas. It is characterized by its hairy stem and alternately arranged leaves, which are divided into several pairs of smooth-edged leaflets. The plant produces a dense compound umbel of flowers with short rays, giving the inflorescence a clustered appearance. Each flower has five white petals, often with a pinkish or reddish hue. The fruits are approximately 3 mm long and are covered in long prickles. It is native to parts of Europe, especially the Mediterranean region, and has been introduced to other parts of the world, including North America, where it is regarded as a weed. It was first described in 1788.
