Haworthia mutica is a succulent plant from the Asphodelaceae family, native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is closely related to species like Haworthia retusa and is characterized by blunt, triangular leaves with visible striations. In its natural habitat, it seldom produces offsets, although cultivated clones may do so more frequently. A notable variety, H. mutica var. nigra, shares a similar appearance but has darker leaves.

Description

Haworthia mutica, described by Haw., is a member of the genus Haworthia within the Asphodelaceae family. It is found in the Cape Provinces of South Africa. The plant features blunt, triangular leaves that are typically marked with striations. While it rarely offsets in the wild, cultivated specimens may produce offsets more readily. A recognized variety, H. mutica var. nigra, is distinguished by its darker leaf coloration. The species was first published in 1821.
