Plagiomnium undulatum (Hedw.) T.J.Kop. is a species of moss in the family Mniaceae, commonly known as Hart's-tongue Thyme-moss. It is distributed across several islands in the Azores, including Corvo, Faial, Flores, Pico, Santa Maria, São Jorge, São Miguel, and Terceira, as well as Madeira Island. The species is also found in regions of Europe such as Flanders, the southern and northern parts of the Netherlands, Denmark, Luxembourg, Belgium, and its administrative regions including Brussels-Capital, Flanders, and Wallonia.

Description

Plagiomnium undulatum is a bryophyte species belonging to the genus Plagiomnium. It was first described in 1968 and is recognized by its common name, Hart's-tongue Thyme-moss. This moss is primarily found in the Azores, a group of islands in the North Atlantic, and in various parts of Western Europe. Its presence in regions like Flanders, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Luxembourg highlights its broader distribution beyond the Azores. The species is part of the Mniaceae family, a group of mosses with a wide geographic range. It is known to occur in both the Azorean archipelago and mainland Europe, where it inhabits suitable bryophyte microhabitats.
