Pinus rigida, commonly known as hard pine or pitch pine, is a pine species in the family Pinaceae. It is native to eastern North America, ranging from central Maine to Georgia and as far west as Kentucky. It thrives in harsh conditions, including acidic, sandy, and nutrient-poor soils. The species was first described in 1768 by Mill.
Description
Pinus rigida is a small-to-medium-sized pine that grows in areas where other species struggle, such as on poor soils.
