Handroanthus albus, known as the golden trumpet tree, is a species in the Bignoniaceae family native to Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil. It is distinguished by its strongly discolored leaflets on the underside, a key feature differentiating it from other Handroanthus species. The species is found in the Cerrado region of Brazil and in the Southeast and South of the country, as well as in the Northeast of Argentina. It flowers in August, September, and December, with fruiting occurring in December.

Description

Handroanthus albus (Cham.) Mattos is a tree species in the Bignoniaceae family. It is native to Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil, where it is commonly known as ipê-amarelo-da-serra. The species is characterized by its yellow flowers and strongly discolored leaflets on the abaxial (lower) surface, a distinguishing trait compared to other species in the genus. It is found in the Cerrado biome and in the Southeast and South regions of Brazil, as well as in the Northeast of Argentina. Reproductive activity includes flowering in August, September, and December, with fruiting observed in December. The species was formally described in 1970.
