Lechea mucronata, commonly known as Hairy Pinweed, is a perennial forb native to North America. It is found from New Hampshire west to Michigan and Oklahoma, and south to central peninsular Florida, Texas, and northern Mexico. This species thrives in open, dry habitats such as dunes, dry hammocks, woodlands, and longleaf pine sandhills.
Description
Lechea mucronata belongs to the Cistaceae family and was first described in 1836. It is distributed across several regions including Ontario, Vermont, Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, and parts of Mexico. It is adapted to arid and semi-arid environments and is commonly found in dry, open landscapes.
