Description
Pinguicula villosa is a carnivorous plant characterized by its sticky, glandular leaves that trap small insects. It is distributed across North America and parts of Asia, including Labrador, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Alaska, Aleutian Is., Amur, Buryatiya, Chita, and Finland. The species was formally published in 1753. The holotype of Pinguicula villosa is documented in the LINN collection, with the sheet number 33.3 at K. The plant is known by the common name 'hairy butterwort' in English.
